Mist: At the Threshold of Light
Designed by Şebnem Buhara for the Kutsal Işık exhibition, Mist Floor Lamp explores light through material, form and craftsmanship. Bringing together hand-blown glass and forged brass, the sculptural design combines the organic character of glass with the strength and permanence of brass.
The irregular, softly contoured glass surface diffuses the light across the form, while the concealed light source places emphasis not on the light itself, but on the atmosphere it creates. Rising from the floor, the solid brass body reinforces Mist’s sculptural presence, allowing it to exist beyond its function as a lighting element.

The idea of Kutsal Işık — Sacred Light — is approached not as a formal spectacle, but as a state and an experience. Light does not direct or impose itself; emerging from within the form, it becomes a quieter presence that establishes a subtle relationship with the space.
Mist was presented as part of Kutsal Işık, curated by Erdem Akan and hosted by NG Loft, alongside distinctive interpretations of light by designers from different disciplines. The exhibition took place on 17 February 2026.
