Tellus: Geometry, Light and Permeability
Designed by BOU Design Studio in collaboration with Karo İstanbul, the Tellus breezeblock collection reinterprets the traditional breezeblock through a contemporary lens. Drawing from the geometric rhythm of Art Deco, its modular forms redefine the relationship between surface, light and permeability, giving architectural surfaces a strong and timeless character.

The repeated geometric modules do more than create a pattern; they shape the way light interacts with the surface. Different levels of permeability allow light and shadow to shift throughout the day, continuously transforming the rhythm of the collection. Tellus preserves the functional essence of the classic breezeblock while transforming it into a more sculptural and decorative architectural element.
The contrast between the order of geometry and the changing nature of light forms the core of the collection. Solid and permeable, repetitive and fluid, graphic and three dimensional... Tellus brings these contrasts together within a single surface.

Tellus was presented at CERSAIE 2026, held in Bologna from 21–25 September 2026, as part of Karo İstanbul’s selection at Hall 36 · Stand C50. The collection was showcased alongside works by Erginoğlu & Çalışlar Architects, Arketipo Design, Baraka Architects and BINAA Studio, bringing the collection into an international design context.
